Spacecraft Status
The AIM spacecraft and subsystems continues to perform nominally. All aspects of the systems are working well.
Instrument Status
CIPS continues to perform well, with no health issues. Data from all seasons has been reprocessed as version 4.20; the official public release occurs this week. Current season data are already being released as v4.20. This retrieval version uses a fundamentally new and improved approach to distinguishing the Rayleigh scattering background from the PMCs.
CIPS observed its first cloud of the NH 2011 season on 24 May, just north of the Queen Elizabeth Islands. Similar to other seasons, this was four days after the SOFIE first detection because of the lower sensitivity of CIPS. Clouds have increased in number and intensity each day since then. The image here is a preliminary "daily daisy" from 30 May, showing widespread clouds over the polar region.
